Who can benefit from the Free NHS Pharmacy First Service's sinusitis guidance and treatment?

*The Pharmacy First-Sinusitis Service is only available to those who are 12 years of age or older. Your eligibility for the NHS Pharmacy First Service, which is free, will be evaluated by the pharmacy staff. The pharmacy staff may refer you to another health care professional or suggest a private service or therapy if you are ineligible.

What is Sinusitis?

Sinusitis is the term for sinus swelling, which is typically brought on by a sinus infection. It usually goes away on its own in a few weeks. You may require medicine to treat the infection and swelling if your symptoms are severe or persistent.
 

What are sinusitis's primary symptoms?

Usually, sinusitis develops after a cold or illness. The following are some of the symptoms of sinusitis:
* Nasal Congestion
* The cheeks, eyes, and forehead are all affected by pain, inflammation, and soreness.
* Green/yellow mucus discharge from the nose
* Reduced sense of smell
* Headache

Which sinusitis treatments are offered by the Pharmacy First Service?

One of our pharmacists will evaluate your condition during a consultation. If the pharmacist believes a treatment for your sinusitis is clinically acceptable and suitable, they may choose to recommend it to you. The following therapies may be offered if you qualify for the free NHS Pharmacy First service, which will also be evaluated.

Corticosteroid Spray or drops

A corticosteroid spray or drops can be administered to the patient to lessen the inflammation brought on by sinusitis. Corticosteroids can lessen sinus and nasal channel edema. To properly administer the corticosteroid spray or drops, you should adhere to the directions provided by the pharmacist and the administration technique outlined in the patient information booklet.

Antibiotics
